Machining 101 - Metal Parts Design 2017 University of Pennsylvania
Through an awesome semester long course, I designed and built a sterling heat engine. Starting from a small pile of provided parts, I then machined a dozen frozen designs to specification out of aluminum and brass, then coupled those to creative freeform designs of my own making which I styled after the Mass Effect video game’s universe. On test day, we clocked my heat engine at just over 1000rpm. Don’t forget to enjoy the glamour shots & SolidWorks CAD renders in the gallery at the end!
